I walk down to a beach and there are two whales off the coast, a male and a female. As I arrive on the beach, the female whale leaves the water and walks, upright, on her tail-fin onto the beach. I immediately drop down into lotus, and bow in namaste to her. Then, with her two dorsal fins, she bows in namaste to me.
Then she speaks: "You humans are always trying to speak to us in "whale" but all you are ever saying is "hello, goodbye, and talking about sex." This is why I must speak to you in English."
As she is speaking, my eyes don't want to stay open. I am using my thumb and index fingers to pull my eyelids open so I can see/watch her. I feel anxious over wanting to see her.
Then, she tells me she wants a treat over at the edge of the beach. It's a large piece of white coral. I have a little anxiety about how heavy it is, but I get up to retrieve it. And, it is heavy, but I carry it to the edge of the water. When I get to the edge, she has returned to the sea.
I drop the coral onto the sand, wondering about it. Then I notice there is a beautiful shell, about the size of my hand, that has washed up in the surf. I pick it up and notice it is occupied. I want to keep it, but feel I shouldn't, and return it back into the surf. Then, I notice there is a shelf on the edge of the beach and underneath it is a row of beautiful shells, each about the size of my hand. These are all vacant.
As I am admiring the shells, the male whale splashes water over me and the beach.
Namaste Whale Comments
Namaste Whale Interpretation
A broad stroke: I feel the female whale represents my infinite self, the large feminine whale self, that I am being called to step into. She comes from the unconscious to present herself to me. Her "namaste" acknowledges that I am her. I find it interesting that it is difficult for me to "look" at my powerful infinite self. Her words describe something about the human condition. We're saying 'hello' and 'goodbye', dropping in and out of consciousness, and always talking about sex -- always talking about integrating. There's something about the coral. I sense it was meant for me. Both it and the seashell creatures were once alive in the unconscious, have been transformed on land, in the conscious realm of the here and now. On the beach, I am on the edge of consciousness/unconsciousness. The male whale surfaces from the unconscious to playfully shower me with a reminder to integrate my large masculine whale self.
